The Ian MacPherson Legacy Fund
The Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF), in partnership with Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada (CMC) and the Canadian Association for Studies in Co-operation (CASC), has established a scholarship fund in memory of the late Ian MacPherson.
To commemorate Dr. MacPherson’s lifelong contributions to the study and promotion of co-operatives, the legacy fund supports a broad range of activities that are important to co-op education and development. The fund supports attendance at research conferences, direct research on co-operatives, as well as student engagement with co-operatives through activities such as immersive education programs.
2017 Applications Now Open
The 2017 application for funding is now open. Funds can be used to cover costs associated with learning opportunities such as co-operative association or sector conferences, training events on co-operatives and research activities or participation in events related to the co-operative economy.
Students at post-secondary institutions who are 35 years or younger will be given priority, with a preference for those doing co-operative research and/or education. Priority will be given to applicants who have an active role in an event (those presenting). Applications will be accepted throughout the year and are reviewed periodically. Approval times are subject to the availability of the evaluation committee. It is suggested that you submit your application at least 60 days in advance of an event for which you are seeking financial support to attend.
